Conference Attire
For a majority of conference, your
comfort is our goal. Recommended attire for
conference is casual (nice shirts or jeans perfectly
acceptable) with three exceptions.
- Community Service
Project: We recommend bringing an old shirt
and pair of jeans to wear for the service project.
This is a great time to wear your conference t-shirt
(but note you will not be allowed to wear it to State's
Night Out).
- State's Night Out:
Immediately following the service project, we will
leave for the Central Business District/French Quarter (CBD/FQ)
for State's Night Out in New Orleans. You may want
to bring clothes to change into before leaving the
busses for State's Night Out. The coach busses
will have bathrooms for you to change in and more than
likely you could change at the service project, but we
recommend coordinating your outfit. The CBD/FQ is
pretty casual, especially the time of year we will be
visiting. If you are planning to eat at one of New
Orleans' finer restaurants, you may want to plan
accordingly, however. Closer to conference, we
will provide a list of recommended restaurants and make
any attire notes so that you and your club/state can
better plan. Regardless of your plans for State's
Night Out, you WILL NOT be allowed to wear any
merchandise bearing the 4-H logo while visiting the CBD/FQ.
We want you to have a great time, however, you are in a
highly public and visible place and we do not want to
take the chance that a few "bad apples" would jeopardize
the 4-H name. (A good analogy would be that you
wouldn't wear your Greek letters to similar events, so
we won't wear the 4-H logo, either). This is the only
requirement for attire at conference. You're
more than welcome to wear 4-H merchandise at any other
time, of course!
- Closing
Assembly/Banquet: Business Casual/Semi-Formal
Attire recommended. Ladies: Business suits,
dresses/skirts, blouses, etc. Men: Dress
shirt, slacks, tie/suit optional.
Dress for the Dance/Clover Ball: Casual (or just
dress down your banquet outfit).
